Impressionism, what is it? It is a way of seeing what natural light does to local color. Is the light cold or warm? Are the shadows cold or warm? In my view, the temperature of the light is opposite the temperature of the cast shadows. Simply put, everything stems from the light.

Windswept Setting.
A possible installation.

"Suzanne began this oil painting in the fall while the oaks and prairie grasses near her sudio were changing color. She then finished the work in her studio over the winter. "The oak tree with yellowing leaves is the main theme," she expains, "and I used the strong winds blowing through the grasses to complete the scene." Suzanne says a refrain from an Irish song was her inspiration - "While soft the wind blew down the glen and shook the golden barley."
