Food is
beautiful! Preparing food is an art!
Most of
my still life work includes food of all kinds and the cooking
instruments used in the preparation and serving of food. I keep a bowl
of those bright green Granny Smith apples on my dining room table,
directly under the painting A Diversion of Apples. Sometimes a
plate of oranges, lemons, and limes sits on my kitchen counter, simply
because I love the color.
Apples of
all varieties, green peppers, cabbage, grapefruit, shrimp, nut bread,
strands of wheat, cucumbers, salads, and strawberries; all things
delicious make an appearance in the paintings on this page.
You also see
tea kettles, plates, bowls, wine bottles, table cloths, and utensils.
One art
patron nick-named my still lifes the “Kitchen Paintings” because they
add flavor to spaces where people gather for a meal, a glass of wine,
afternoon tea, a light snack and conversation.
I love
the idea of art collectors acquiring my work to enhance an area where
food is prepared and served. These paintings were created for all food
lovers who also love art. Bon Appetite!
